Job Summary:

The Alternative Business Models (ABM) team, a key part of EY’s Vision 2020+ strategy, is responsible for driving, managing and supporting a portfolio of global asset and IP based solutions across the firm, representing a significant opportunity for EY, with each solution having a $100M+ revenue or an asset value > $50M. The team works with senior global stakeholders across multiple functions to provide the supporting infrastructure accelerate solutions. The primary responsibilities of this role will include:

 
  • Jointly oversee/manage the ABM funding program.

  • Manage and drive a sub-set of the global ABM portfolio to accelerate development.

  • Represent ABM at senior levels within the firm by building and maintaining effective relationships with key global, area and regional stakeholders.

  • Lead the design and development of ABM solution progress and performance reporting.

 
Essential Functions of the Job:

Funding – Jointly oversee/manage approx. $20M-$25M of global solutions funding to incubate and build at scale asset-based solutions, working with global, area, service line and sector leadership teams. Present funding recommendations at ABM senior governance meetings.

  • Lead/coordinate the funding review processes.
  • Assess global ABM opportunities and provide funding recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Present funding recommendations at senior leadership meetings, including the ABM Governance Committee and Markets Governance Committee. Members of these committees include GVC Markets, Global Market Solutions Leader, GVC Industry, GVC Finance, Area and Global Service Line Deputies, Client Technology CTO, Global Alliances Leader, Global Managed Services Leader, Global Chief Innovation Officer and GAC Chair.

  • Monitor solution funding.
 

Accelerate development of solutions – Manage/support the development of new and fundamentally different types of solutions for the firm, which leverage advanced technologies, each having different complexities/stakeholders and multiple impacts on EY’s operating model. Specifically enabling a portfolio of ABM solutions incubated out of APAC i.e., Citizens Intelligence Platform and Vigilate, etc. Coaching teams to secure global funding and providing ongoing support during the incubate and build phases.

  • Bring product best practices (product vision, value proposition, roadmap, etc.) to solution teams to accelerate collaboration and efficiencies with technology resources.

  • Coordinate support needed for solution teams across ABM functional experts.

  • Ensure robust plans and targets are in place across solutions.

  • Monitor solutions against plans and the Solution Accelerator Framework requirements and help to address any issues.

  • Actively share leading practice across solution teams, convening teams and ABM functional experts/key SMRs to address common issues.

  • Build up a network of incubators at EY, understanding their capabilities and look to match solution teams with the incubators to accelerate incubation.

  • Attend/support teams through accelerator and incubator programs.

  • Actively support in-market conversations to accelerate client co-development agreements.

 

Progress and performance reporting – Lead the design, development and implementation ABM solution progress and performance reporting aligned to ABM solution development objectives/milestones and the ABM and firms strategy.

  • Lead the development and implementation of regular progress reporting at the individual solution and portfolio level including a mechanism to escalate critical issues to key stakeholders for resolution.

  • Lead the development and implementation of a series of dashboards to monitor KPIs and other measures of success of the ABM programs and solutions.

  • Collaborate with BD and Service Lines to drive consistency, alignment and reduce duplication for solution teams.

 

Leadership engagement – Represent ABM at senior levels within the firm by building and maintaining effective relationships with key global stakeholders to help drive and implement the ABM agenda. In particular, take a lead role in the relationship with APAC, Alliances, Data Office, Advisory and TAS

  • Lead role in managing the relationship with APAC, in addition to supporting a portfolio of APAC-led ABM solutions. Supporting APAC in their approach to ABM, raising awareness of the ABM agenda and the global support available as well as being a point of contact for APAC leadership as they build out their ABM approach.

  • Lead role in managing relationships with Alliances, Data Office, Advisory and TAS.

  • Prepare leadership materials/reporting and present at senior leadership meetings.

 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:  


There are very minimal policies, precedents and procedure in this space. Therefore, all work requires significant judgement. Examples are:

 
  • Analyze business cases, for new and complex, technology-based solutions, across multiple sectors and service lines, to determine if opportunities have the future potential to be a successful global ABM solution of $100m+ revenue or asset value >$50m.

  • Assess solutions across key funding criteria, based on a fundamentally different model, requiring an investor mindset, to make recommendations to senior leadership on global funding.

  • Influences senior stakeholders (all PPEDs, often senior Partners) on the ABM strategic agenda. This implies a high level of influencing skills, ability to understand solution teams’/functional teams’ issues and challenge where needed.

  • Sound value judgments that help reach consensus to drive at adoption.

  • Consultative questioning, influence management and critical thinking skills to understand organizational challenges and recommend viable solutions that are effective in driving adoption.

  • Ability to make decisions with imperfect or limited data.

 
Supervision Responsibilities:
  • Works independently, working with various senior global stakeholders. Manages own deadlines and actively supports team members in achieving their deadlines and elevate where necessary.

  • Provides coaching, development and direction to junior resource(s) on the ABM team on key tasks such as management reporting, solutions support and leadership communications/presentation development.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
  • Managing projects – good project management skills, organized and detail oriented.

  • EY knowledge – good understanding of EY’s organizational and operational structure. Possess a solid understanding of Vision 2020+ objectives.

  • Inclusive communicator – strong written and oral communication skills. Good networker, effect at working as part of a virtual team with people across levels and backgrounds. Strong interpersonal communication and influencing skills with the confidence and maturity to build relationships and work with Global, Area and Regional leadership teams.

  • Effective operations - strong project management skills with ability to operate as both a strategic thinker and internal business operator. Ability to establish credibility and buy-in from senior stakeholders.

  • Adjusting to change – resilient, practical and self-starter. Able to work independently and as part of wider team. Understanding of change management approaches and experience with implementation.

  • Driving success – delivery-focused with proven experience in implementing initiatives in a commercial / professional services environment. Passion for purpose, strong sense of teaming and work ethic.

 
Other Requirements:
  • Occasional international travel for global meetings and workshops.

  • Long hours may occasionally be required to meet project commitments.

  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate workload and multiple time zones is needed.

 
Job Requirements:

Education:
  • University/Bachelor’s degree required.
 
Experience:
  • Over 12+ years professional work experience
