Your key responsibilities

  • Ensure a strong bid process is followed and coach teams to create clear value propositions that can be articulated to the client
  • Support teams to get ahead of upcoming RFPs, through planning client touchpoints and developing pursuit strategy
  • Develop storyboard to enable appropriate contributors and subject matter experts to produce proposal content
  • Support in developing and improving proposal content on strategic bids, helping us to clearly articulate our key messages to clients
  • Be the custodian of a quality bid process, including leading a project, timeline and procedures to meet the needs of each specific pursuit
  • Facilitate all kick-off strategy, status, follow-up/debrief, and presentation preparation meetings
  • Provide effective challenge and coaching throughout the process to encourage teams to think differently
  • Help teams to be immersed in the client issues and stay up to date on the impact of business and financial news on clients on an ongoing basis
  • Team with pursuit, business development and other EY departments as appropriate to develop stakeholder maps and client-facing activities
  • Establish and build relationships throughout business development in the context of individual pursuits and wider best practice and initiatives
  • Define standards and drive best practice to ensure that leading practices are shared within the pursuits team and across the wider firm
  • Contribute to team wide initiatives to build a best in class bid function
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities, proposing, developing and executing solutions on an on-going basis

 

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ability to develop relationships, influence and coach senior stakeholders on complex issues
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives and work to tight deadlines, with the flexibility to deal with rapidly changing situations
  • Have experience in creative writing on proposals, ideally in the public sector
  • Be proactive in taking the lead and ownership of projects
  • Effectively interact with all levels within the organisation, including Partners, by challenging, influencing and coaching
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and as a team player, working collaboratively, virtually and independently

 

To qualify for the role you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in bid management, ideally of public sector bidding
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Demonstrable ability to develop trusted business relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to think commercially and strategically

Ideally (but not essential as we value diversity), you’ll also have working knowledge of a professional services organisation
