Manager, Change - People Advisory Services (PAS), UK&I

Communications and Engagement
 
Communications and Engagement (C&E) is a distinct practice and skillset within our business change offer in PAS (Performance). It is an area that is rapidly growing area and is increasingly becoming an integral part of many PAS and Advisory client engagements.
 
EY’s C&E team in PAS is a diverse group of expert practitioners who collaborate to deliver targeted communications solutions to engage employees and stakeholders through times of transformational change. They are a client facing team who have cross-sector experience reaching different employee groups across complex, global environments.
 
Our clients come from all sectors and value the insights we bring about how they can design and deliver communications and engagement strategies that connect employees and external stakeholders to their change agenda. Every programme faces an ‘election campaign’ it must win and communications and engagement activities make this possible, helping the business engage employees and stakeholders with a powerful narrative and support them in being ready to accept  change.
 
Communications & Engagement is a real differentiator that adds value, generates revenue and promotes our brand. It has been identified as an area of growth as clients increasingly require advice on how to effectively engage employees using a broad range of solutions during periods of transformation.   
 
 
Your key responsibilities:
 
Core consulting and programme delivery
  • Lead programmes and consulting engagements in areas such as communications strategy, employee engagement and stakeholder management through the employee and change lifecycle                 
  • Design and deliver complex, large scale communications programmes in a broad range of industry sectors including:
    • Structure and lead programmes to meet and exceed client expectations
    • Implement leading communications and engagement practices
    • Produce communications content for a range of audience groups
    • Manage programme delivery, budget, profitability and scope
    • Recognise and mange risks and issues
    • Represent teams, workstreams and programmes in relevant steering committees        
    • Ability to anticipate and assimilate client requirements, win their trust and build enduring relationships to develop their business
    • Proactively manage client stakeholders
    • Be able to analyse complex problems and deliver insightful, practical and sustainable solutions
    • Develop and shape communications engagements with our industry account teams and other practice areas
    • Manage third party agencies
    • Take a practical approach to solving issues and gaining client agreement
Practice and people management
  • Build and lead teams with accountability for establishing cohesive and committed ways for these teams to work closely and effectively together, including coaching
  • Support the practice with operational recruitment to bring high calibre individuals to the practice
  • Provide and facilitate development opportunities for individuals at all levels in the practice
  • Support change initiatives and embed them within the team
  • Encourage the development of team members through formal and informal coaching
  • Give authentic and constructive feedback
  • Seek to give team members stretching opportunities while providing support and ensuring quality and operational excellence
  • Reinforce our values, through day to day behaviour and challenge disrespectful behaviour
  • Act as a team player, with an ability to quickly integrate within new teams
Business growth and development
  • Grow the Communications business by actively driving the ongoing development of the practice and assuming operational responsibility and accountability for assignments and delivery teams across sectors
  • Contribute to business development and client pursuit efforts by leading on the preparation of proposals and delivering presentations to potential clients, whilst leading the delivery of subsequent work won
  • Generate profitable revenue by developing lasting relationships with clients through business development and account management leadership
  • Contribute to delivery of the strategic objectives across PAS and the wider UK& Ireland business at EY, as well as supporting and participating in initiatives for growth of the firm as a whole

  • Be able to analyse complex problems and to deliver insightful, practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Be skilled in facilitating and encouraging collaboration amongst team members, and is capable of motivating teams to maximise performance
  • Be confident and effective in recognising and managing potential issues during client assignments
 
To qualify for the role you must have
  • Highly experienced communications professional with industry and/or agency communications experience delivering communications strategy, channels, senior stakeholder engagement in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Qualifications such as CIPR, Melcrum or other professional Communications/Public Relations/Internal Communications qualifications would be of interest but are not essential
 
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Operational communications experience within a large, complex, multinational organisation is desirable, but not essential
  • Experience in change communications across HR M&A Transactions and/or HR Transformation
  • No requirement for sector specialisation but strong insight into one or more of the following is desirable: Technology, Government & Public Sector, Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities, Consumer Products & Industrial Products, Media & Entertainment, Financial Services, Healthcare
