Technology has made massive amounts of big data available, and not just for informing the customer experience. Tax big data can uncover both tax risk and opportunities while it also provides predictive and descriptive analytics, value-added insights and better visibility to the enterprise.

The EMEIA Tax Centre Data and Analytics team provides and manages services for multinational companies to help transform this raw data into insightful analytical solutions across all areas of the Tax function.

The opportunity

Due to unprecedented growth & demand the team is looking for talented Senior Consultants to lead the development of this new service offering. We are open to individuals who have either or both analytics or tax consultancy skills, and who are willing to learn the other.

This client facing team is a new business which is expanding rapidly and we can offer you the chance to be involved in a growing service offering, focusing on innovation and data analysis, operating in an international environment and working with large multinational companies. We will support relevant training and qualifications.

Given the nature of the roles, international travel is likely to be required.

Your key responsibilities
  • Facilitate engagement process from start to finish including budget planning, data collection and processing, documentation management and quality review
  • Lead/assist in the identification and documentation of requirements
  • Design and implement data analytical solutions such as frameworks, data models, visualisation and other analytical tools and applications
  • Apply statistical models and technique to analyse client data and derive insight and foresight
  • Extract and articulate the added value behind the analysis
  • Conduct first level review of client deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to EY Quality and Risk Management procedures and responsibility for quality of analytical tools and applications
  • Working across our Tax practice & its various service offerings
  • Innovate and generate ideas to improve efficiency of the projects and client experience
  • Research new tools and applications

To qualify for the role you will have

  • Good data manipulation skills required including cleaning and managing data
  • Understanding the value of analytics and capable of articulating this to non-technical stakeholders
  • Good experience in an analytical/algorithm/data/software development role
  • Good Experience with data visualisation tools and packages (e.g., Spotfire, Tableau, Microsoft BI or Qlikview)
  • Scripting/programming languages is a plus (Python, R, JavaScript, D3.js, VBA, etc.)
  • Ability to research, learn and apply technology to solve business questions
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • University degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer science, Engineering, Information Systems and/or equivalent formal training or work experience preferred but not essential
  • Broad/Subject Matter Expert Tax knowledge preferred but not essential
  • Experience of predictive analysis is a plus
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
What we look for

A solid grounding in applied mathematics and statistics including expertise in several of the following (or related) techniques: Bayesian modelling,

multivariate regression, logistic regression, machine learning, cluster analysis, decision trees, time series analysis and forecasting, factor analysis, structural equation modelling, item response theory, Markov chains, Neural Networks and Natural Language Processing are all a plus but not essential.
